Intentions: this website will eventually form the basis of a cross-platform (web / PDA / WAP / iTV / webTV) site and will complement Michelle Branch's fansites in the US. Rather than reproducing the content of those sites, it will give a more European and UK-centric focus on Michelle's tour dates, album and single release dates, appearances and even where to buy.

Design & Function: this site is designed to produce multi-platform pages from a base series of XML files. The XML files (in conjunction with XSL stylesheets) are updated in one place, and detection of the user agent serves the appropriate markup language.

The markup code for web and PDA is written in strict observance with transitional XHTML 1.0, and forms the basis of all code on the site. The webTV code is down-stepped XHTML to comply with HTML 3.2

Optimised: all gifs and jpegs are optimised and reduced to minimal weight to bring total pageloads under a set limit, to assist access via dial-up modems and PDAs.

WML support is text-only for the moment, and is validated using the Ericsson 320 wap emulator.

Media production: SMIL file coding and post-production processing of audio and video files on this site is done by globalspot.net. The reasons for additional processing are purely to either convert available source files to a consistent format for web use (this site's policy is to use RealVideo 8, video at 320x240, multi-bitrate surestream at 56k/300k for dual dial-up and broadband support), or to convert full length songs to 30 second clips. No intent of infringment of copyright is intended.

Profit policy: this site is intended to be a non-profit fansite, as long as it is cost-effective to run. No links to commerce related sites, such as amazon.co.uk, generate any revenue for this site. There is no intention, short-term or otherwise, to carry paid-for advertising. We may carry reciprocal links with commercial sites.
